Notable achievements include receiving the Fulbright grant and the Knight-Wallace journalism fellowship, as well as authoring two textbooks. I recently launched the “AI in Journalism” podcast, showcasing my dedication to media innovation. In September, I will be moderating a panel on how small newsrooms are utilizing AI at the Online News Association conference in Atlanta
I am dedicated to empowering journalists, content creators, bloggers, and other communicators to discover, through coaching and the use of free or affordable AI tools, how to take their career goals to the next level.
My tenure as a corporate communications manager at LinkedIn provided me with a platform to educate and guide hundreds of professionals on building their brand presence on social media. From conducting workshops at UC Berkeley to facilitating training programs for media outlets in China and Yonkers, New York, my mission is to equip individuals with the skills to thrive in the digital age of journalism.
Teaching
At San Francisco State University, I continue to shape journalism education’s future by teaching media writing and broadcasting courses while spearheading initiatives like the Social Media Journalism course and authoring a textbook on news writing in the digital era. I also occasionally teach reporting to graduates and undergraduates at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.
